The Pokémon Company Recorded Its Highest Profits Ever In 2020

Pokémon is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and somehow it just keeps growing in popularity. Although it has been a bit of a bumpy period for the mainline video game series over the past few years, it seems the franchise, in general, is doing better than ever.

According to the Japanese government’s Official Gazette (via consultant Dr. Serkan Toto), the Pokémon series banked 120 billion yen (US$1.1 billion) over the last financial year - with an operating profit of 27.8 billion yen (US$254 million) and a net profit of 18.6 billion yen (US$170 million).
