My husband and I met in an MMO, we played together for years. But kids, jobs, and other hobbies took up more and more time. I haven't gamed in years now really except for the occasional log in to our original stomping grounds of EQII.
He really wants me to game with him again, and we have tried a few different ones (Rift, GW2), but our styles have changed over the years.
While I like exploring and finding all the side quests, he is a level straight to the top gamer.
We even tried him having multiple characters, one being for when he plays with me, and the other for him to go nuts on. The problem is that he inevitably ends up bored with the game long before I am. He plays when I'm doing my other outdoor hobbies, I won't ever be a full time gamer again. Mind you, we both work, but that is his fun time. Which is totally fine and I support. He still hikes and stuff with me. I've even suggested we find a game he only plays with me (since he has so many to choose from) but that doesn't work. If he likes a game, he plays it.
Anyway, he has asked that we try again, and I love that he wants to game with me. We've discussed trying GW2 again, but I get the feeling he would really like to find something new.
So there you have it, any suggestions? I realize our game styles may never totally overlap again, but we are hoping if we can find the right game the rest can be compromise (I don't take every damn quest and he slows down to smell the occasional flower before killing it).
To get an idea of what we like:
Him - everything so far. SW the old republic, WoW, EQ2, Overwatch, Halo, Fallout, etc...
Me- EQ2, GW2, Baldur's gate type stuff. Not into shoot em up games. As I've said, I have less experience. Also used to play GemstoneIV, but he doesn't do text games.
Neither of us are role players really, but I like game with server options and we did meet on a lowkey RP server.
