Valve has published a list of the top 100 selling games of 2018 on its digital sales platform Steam, and the highest-grossing games of the year include a mix of indie hits and triple-A games that represent both traditional sales models and free-to-play. While Valve didn’t provide raw sales numbers, it did break the year’s top-selling games down into tiers based on gross revenue. In the top ‘platinum’ tier are: Warframe, Grand Theft Auto V, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, The Elder Scrolls Online, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Dota 2, Monster Hunter: World, Far Cry 5, Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League, and Civilization VI. In the ‘gold’ tier you find a similar mix of new and older titles, from indie and triple-A studios. Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Path of Exile, Divinity: Original Sin II, and Assassin’s Creed Origins are all included at this level. Valve also provided a few other slices of its player data, including the top Early Access ‘graduates’ this year, the most simultaneous players, and the top new releases of the year.
