Google has published its own look back at 2018, including a list of the most-searched games of the year. The top ten list mostly consists the list of big-name, triple-A titles you’d expect, with one notable exception - a free browser-based battle royale that became a hit over the spring. These trending searches are specific to the US - sorry, Google didn’t break down gaming globally or for the UK, loyal PCGNers - and the first few spots are completely unsurprising. Fortnite comes in at number one, followed by Red Dead Redemption 2, Fallout 76, Far Cry 5, and God of War. The next four are slightly less obvious, but include popular titles like Monster Hunter: World, Sea of Thieves, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Then, rounding out the bottom of the list at number 10, is Zombs Royale. I could explain it, but you’re probably better off heading to the official site and and playing a round for yourself. In short, you drop from a plane onto an island, grab some guns, and compete to be the last player standing in a field of 100. Yep, it’s a browser battle royale.
