Do gamers care about social justice issues/politics?

Hey, I'm pretty new here. But In light of the blizzard scandal, I was just wondering if gamers actually care about politics or social justice issues. It seems like its an increasing trend outside of the gaming realm but I always thought gaming and politics/social justice issues never really intersect or when companies attempt to do so gamers aren't receptive to it.
