What kind of games do you prefer to play over watch?

This came up in a conversation with my friends and I was shocked to find I'm the only one who stops watching let's plays/streams to play a game if I like really it (and have time to play it). I mostly play horror games right now, and a lot of the time I find the set jump scares get ruined if you know they're coming, so if a game is free and catches my interest, I'll play it or put off the video until Ive convinced myself I wont actually play the game myself. That said, it's just horror games. I'll watch almost anything else and either I didn't have any intentions to play the game or I play it anyway. Everyone else though play and watch games without preference. They explained it like, watching the game and playing it are "two different experiences" to them, but it's not something I can always relate to. To me, some games are harder to enjoy a second time, when the surprises are out and the plot's already known.

So, am I alone here? Anyone else do this? I'm sure replayability is a huge factor here, but what else? What do you guys think?
