Was it all just a coincidence?
Last week, there was a story doing the rounds about an 88-year-old grandmother named Audrey Buchanan, who received a brand new themed Switch after she became famous for clocking up more than 3,500 hours in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
At the time, it was believed she had been immortalised in the new entry Animal Crossing: New Horizons with a character named after her, but it turns out this may not necessarily be the case. NBC's Today recently reached out to Nintendo to ask if it was true. According to the news outlet, Nintendo was "unwilling" to comment about this:
