Matt Reeves Explains His Gotham City For HBO Max Series

During the panel for The Batman at DC FanDome, director Matt Reeves discussed his upcoming Gotham City TV series, which is coming to HBO Max. During this panel, we also got The Batman movie's first trailer.

While there was already a TV series that took place in the Caped Crusader's stomping grounds, Fox's Gotham, Reeves' new show feels more akin to the comic book series Gotham Central by Greg Rucka and Ed Brubaker. "I mean, for me, the idea of this was a story in which Gotham has the sort of depths of corruption," Reeves explained during the panel. "And then the idea that we could actually do a series that is going deeper into an aspect of it, which in this case is the corrupt police department and the corrupt inner workings of the city."

Reeves is accompanied by a very seasoned writer who is a perfect fit. "Terence Winter is just like an incredible writer, so the idea that we got him to do this I mean just is literally a dream," Reeves said.
