TouchArcade Game of the Week: ‘Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition’

This week saw a surprise release of sorts as Beamdog has finally launched Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition on the iOS App Store. I say finally because Neverwinter Nights: EE has been available on Android since December of 2018, only a matter of months after launching on desktop. So with a mobile version already existing, why did it take almost two years to come to iOS? I don’t know! But I’m not complaining now. The Enhanced Edition features a bunch of fixes and improved graphics over the original release, as well as new online servers for multiplayer. And kids, this game is cross-platform, so you can get your dungeon crawl on with your friends even if they’re on Android, Windows, macOS, Linux, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch.

There’s not a ton to say about a game that’s nearly twenty years old. This is a BioWare classic, brought into the modern age thanks to Beamdog. If you were a fan of the original, you should enjoy this version that you can stick in your pocket. The initial purchase is $10 and comes with the full original campaign as well as 6 free DLC packs, and that should equate to well over 100 hours of gameplay at minimum. There are also some additional premium modules available as IAP if you somehow need even more to do. If you aren’t familiar with the original, but you enjoy classic CRPGs from the ’90s and early aughts, there’s really very little available on mobile with the type of depth that Neverwinter Nights offers.
