We now know just about everything we need to know about the PlayStation 5 ahead of release--it'll release on November 12 for $500, and launch games include Demon's Souls and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. We also know what the box looks like, and what's inside it. But it's also important that you make some room for the system in your entertainment unit--the PS5 is easily the biggest PlayStation yet.
The official dimensions for the PS5 have been released, and it's enormous. The disc drive version of the console is a bit bigger and heavier, but the digital version of the console is also very big. Here's the measurements.
PlayStation 5
- US: 15.35in × 4.09in × 10.23in (width x height x depth, excludes base)
- Metric: 390mm x 104mm x 260mm (width x height x depth, excludes base)
- Weight: 9.92lbs (4.5kg)
PlayStation 5 Digital Edition
- US: 15.34in × 3.62in × 10.23mm (width x height x depth, excludes base)
- Metric: 390mm x 92mm x 260mm (width x height x depth, excludes base)
- Weight: 8.59lbs (3.9kg)
As Kotaku points out, this makes the PS5 quite a bit bigger than the Xbox One X, and much bigger than the Xbox Series S.
Thankfully, the PS5 can be laid down flat if you don't have room to stand it up--as many people won't--but you'll need to make sure you have room for it in your entertainment unit.
If you want to get your hands on a PS5 at launch, you'll want to check out GameSpot's preorder guide--the system is already starting to sell out in presales.
