Nintendo Hacker Who Stole "Confidential Information" Sentenced To Three Years In Prison

21-year-old hacker Ryan Hernandez, who breached Nintendo's internal network on multiple occasions, has been sentenced to three years in prison. Earlier this year, he pleaded guilty to charges relating to hacking and possession of child pornography.

In 2016, Hernandez used phishing techniques to steal the credentials of a Nintendo employee - allowing him to leak information about the Switch prior to launch. When contacted by the FBI in 2017, when he was still a minor, he told them he promised to stop any further malicious activity - noting how he understood the consequences if he did it again.
