Red Dead Redemption 2 Sharpshooter Challenge Guide

Sharpshooter is another set of hidden challenges in Red Dead 2. This Red Dead Redemption 2 Sharpshooter Challenge Guide will cover everything you need to know for how to unlock the starting challenge and what you need to do to progress through the 10 different challenges in the Sharpshooter set.

You unlock the Sharpshooter Challenge by shooting a flying bird. You can use any weapon and either do it from ground level or on horseback. Horseback makes unlocking the challenge slightly easier as the sticky aim tends to provide better accuracy when shooting small, flying birds. Once you have shot a bird, it must be flying, you will unlock the Sharpshooter Challenges.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Sharpshooter Challenge Guide

Sharpshooter Challenge 1

The first Sharpshooter Challenge asks you to shoot 3 flying birds. This is much easier if you find an area where birds tend to fly in large flocks. There’s plains to the North East of camp, check around that area. Specifically, Twin Stack Pass, South of the Heartland Oil Fields.

Once completed, you unlock the Sharpshooter Bandolier at the Trapper.

Sharpshooter Challenge 2

You need to kill 2 different species of animal in the same Dead Eye use. Simply find two different types of animal, activate Dead Eye, and take them out. There’s a good area here that features multiple species of animal.

Sharpshooter Challenge 3

You need to kill 5 flying birds while on a moving train. This one can be quite difficult. The easiest way to do it is to head to a train station and wait for a train. Jump aboard and climb on one of the carts. The train must be moving for the kills to count.

It’s also easier in the day time as more birds appear. As you ride along the tracks wait for a decent sized flock to come out of the brush. Use your deadeye ability to tag and kill as many as you can. Repeat this until the challenge is completed. You will alert the train as though you were robbing it. Make sure to keep whistling your horse so it stays within range for the escape.

Kill an enemy with a thrown tomahawk from at least 80ft away.
