Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Today is my birthday! So please be kind if I didn’t catch a cool update or something like that. I am full of pizza, happiness, and cake at the moment. Nevertheless, I found some nifty updates you’ll want to check out. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. If you’re a developer with a cool update you’d like to see here, get in touch! With that said, let’s dig in!
Choice of Games, Free If there’s an update for Choice of Games, it probably means there’s a new game to play. And what do you know? That’s the case here! The new gamebook is titled Werewolves: Haven Rising, and it’s a 285,000-word tale that puts you in the furry feet of a werewolf who is being confined and used by the government to do its dirty work. As always, you can choose many of the details of your character and guide them through the story as you see fit. If you’re into werewolves, it’s hard to see how you can go wrong with this one.
A Noble Circle, $1.99 Developer Amir Rajan of A Dark Room and The Ensign fame has given a major update to A Noble Circle, his unusual cross of twitch action and narrative adventure. Unfortunately, his update notes for the game are as vague as usual, so you’ll just have to download it and see for yourself what’s up. I mean, I could spoil it, but if the developer doesn’t want to, I guess I can play along. For now.
Pocket Run Pool, Free Zach Gage’s intriguing take on billiards is as fun as his games usually are, and the only way to make fun even more fun is if you add more fun. Which he did. By adding stuff. In an update. This update. It has two new payout tables, five new bet conditions, a freshly re-designed main menu, ten new background options, six new unlockable cuesticks, and even a few more things. So hey, why not check this out? Costs you nothing to try!
Angry Birds Epic RPG, Free Those furious avians cannot be stopped. They will run willy-nilly into any genre these days, so long as said niche has proven to be popular. And simple RPGs? You know that’s a booming business. So there it is. So yes, here’s an update for this somewhat mediocre game that somehow keeps trundling forward. It raises the level cap on both Player Level and Bird Mastery to 100, so you’ve got some work ahead of you if you want to keep your squad maxed. There are also two new caves to explore, if you’ve got an inkling to. There are also some important bug fixes here, which is a very agreeable thing to put in an update.
Junk Jack, $4.99 Whoa-ho, it’s update time for Junk Jack again and likely to no one’s surprise it’s a real corker. What can you look forward to in this one? How about 75 rare fancy pets on all planets? Search out all of them for a lovely sense of satisfaction. Besides the pets, there are also a ton of new items in the game. More than I can list, really. things like habanero orange plants, CGA retro blocks, a poo head equipment piece, and many, many more. Oh, but it does take out the valentine chests, because that was a while ago. Anyway, as usual the best way to see all that’s been added is to jump in and check it yourself. What I can say is that this is the winner of this week’s coveted UMMSotW award. So that’s something.
Star Wars: Force Arena, Free Ha, remember Solo? That’s so last update. At any rate, we’re moving on from that to something from the past. Specifically, Star Wars Rebels. There are six new characters from that popular TV series, including Gar Saxon and Ahsoka Tano (Fulcrum). To go with them, there are some new character gallery artworks to collect, some UI improvements, and an AR replay mode. Look, I’m just giving Solo a hard time. It’s not so bad, even if I do think Star Wars Rebels is better. That’s all I’ve got to say about that.
Tiny Goalie, Free Well, here’s our old boy update of the week. Tiny Goalie hasn’t been updated in four years, but boom! It’s back, friends. And it has been completely rebuilt, adding new coins and unlockable teams from around the world. You can pick your striker and your goalie team, and there are some spiffy new effects and sounds. Oh, and it works all nice and well on modern hardware and software, which may not have been the case before. So that’s worth celebrating all on its own, because this is a pretty fun game.
Pokémon GO, Free I decided a good way to spend my birthday today was by taking my son to see the new Pokemon movie. It was better than usual! Let us not talk about the quality of “the usual", though. Maybe you can’t watch the movie yet, or maybe you don’t want to. It’s okay, you can just play the newly-updated Pokemon Go instead. One great new thing is that you have some extra incentive to trade Pokemon with others. You see, when you trade Pokemon, there’s now a chance that both will become Lucky Pokemon. There are some UI improvements regarding the Friends List, and gifts may now include Stardust. You’ll receive experience for sending gifts, and you can now delete unsent gifts if you want.
Need for Speed No Limits, Free Racing game updates equal new cars most of the time, and yeah, we’re not breaking the pattern here. Sorry if you were hoping for something else. Join in the Blackridge event and try to get your hands on the 2017 Pagani Huayra BC and the 2016 Lambo Aventador, or go to the Proving Grounds to try to earn the 2010 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. You can also get yourself the Powertrain wrap as a reward. Plus, you can check out some classic Flashback events to get a second crack at old events you may have missed the first time.
Sentinels of the Multiverse, $6.99 Let’s round things out this week with good ol’ Sentinels of the Multiverse. Mini-Pack 4 is now available as IAP and includes Benchmark, Stuntman, Chokepoint, and the Celestial Tribunal. If you’ve already got Season Pass 2, you’ll automatically get Mini-Pack 4 without having to insert more money. I mean, that’s why you bought the Season Pass, right? This update also includes some bug fixes, which I’m thankful for as I don’t think there was quite enough text in this paragraph until I brought them up. Yay, bug fixes!
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
