Some new content is on the way to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 very soon. As Treyarch teased in the patch notes for the game's latest update, the developer is bringing back the fan-favorite Nuketown map, and it's arriving for free this week for some players.
First introduced in the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, Nuketown has gone on to become one of the most iconic multiplayer maps in the series. It has been remade in every subsequent Black Ops game, each time sporting a different look while retaining the same general layout. In Black Ops 4, Nuketown takes the form of a small Russian city in the dead of winter. You can take your first look at it in the trailer above.
Thanks to Activision's timed exclusivity agreement with Sony, Nuketown will arrive first on PS4 beginning tomorrow, November 13, with an Xbox One and PC release set to follow later. Treyarch hasn't announced exactly when the map will come to those two platforms, but this time, its PS4 exclusivity period is only seven days (rather than 30 as it was for previous Call of Duty games), so Xbox One and PC players will presumably get their chance to revisit Nuketown sometime next week.
Treyarch has a lot more free content planned for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Next month, the developer will introduce the first of several new Specialist characters to the game. Treyarch also plans to hold more seasonal, weekly, and other limited-time events in the game, and the battle royale-inspired Blackout mode is also slated to receive its own set of regular map updates, expansions, and new modes.
Treyarch continues to tweak and improve Black Ops 4 with a regular stream of updates and patches. The latest focused on resolving some lingering stability issues in Zombies mode and made a few tweaks to Blackout and multiplayer. We also have our own ideas on how Blackout mode can improve in the future.
