Destiny 2’s Forsaken hasn’t disappointed Bungie

Destiny 2 Forsaken may not have quite lived up to publisher Activision’s hopes in terms of sales numbers, but the game’s director says Bungie isn’t disappointed with the expansion at all, and that the studio remains committed to making more Destiny for players who love their games. Implicitly responding to headlines about Activision’s disappointment with Forsaken’s sales, Destiny 2 director Luke Smith took to Twitter to assure fans that Forsaken was made for them, and that the studio is pleased with how it turned out. “Building Destiny for players who love it is and will remain our focus going forward,” Smith said. This comes days after an Activision shareholder conference call over the company’s latest financial report, which showed that Forsaken hasn’t quite performed up to earnings projections. However, that same report showed that the monthly number of players has increased over the past year, and other data shows that about 60% of Destiny 2 players have bought the Forsaken expansion. But the figures have been worrying enough that Activision is offering up the core Destiny 2 game for free to PC players through November 18, and the Forsaken expansion (which includes DLC packs Warmind and Curse of Osiris) is currently on sale.
