With the third John Wick movie topping the box office, it’s safe to say that series creator and writer Derek Kolstad knows how to present a back-to-basics action movie. Now Kolstad is working on an adaptation of the game series perhaps most synonymous with big, dumb, action movie antics: Just Cause. German production company Constantin Film (which is also working on the Monster Hunter movie) has picked up the movie rights to Just Cause and brought in Kolstad to write the script. Constantin’s Robert Kulzer and Prime Universe Films’ Adrian Askarieh are on board as producers. The two have been involved with the Resident Evil and Hitman films, respectively. “The project is a top priority for Constantin,” according to the Variety report, and is set to begin filming in 2020. If talk of a Just Cause movie sounds familiar, you might be thinking of 2017’s announcement of a film adaptation starring Jason Momoa as Rico Rodriguez. That one’s apparently fallen through, but hey - maybe Momoa will still come on board.
