The fall deluge of games is almost upon us, bringing a number of anticipated titles. To tide us over, there are still some good games due out next month. On that note, here are 5 games we’re looking forward to in August. Oh, and we won’t make you click through five pages to look at the entire list.

Blade Strangers

An indie battle royale, Studio Saizensen and Nicalis’ Blade Strangers pits characters from The Binding of Isaac, Shovel Knight, Cave Story, and more in a one-on-one 2D fighter. Similar to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros series, players will perform various special moves and attacks by pressing a single directional input in combination with one of four attack buttons. We’re looking forward to throwing down, and seeing what kind of fanservice it has to offer.

Blade Strangers will come out for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC on August 28.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate

Capcom’s Monster Hunter series makes its way to the Nintendo Switch in the release of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. This entry features the series’ largest roster of monsters to date, which also includes all-new monsters, Deviant variants, and the Elder Dragon Valstrax. In addition, supermoves called Hunter Arts have been introduced. We’re looking forward to hunting online with our fellow hunters.

We Happy Few

Developed by Compulsion Games and published by Gearbox Publishing, We Happy Few follows an alternative version of World War II in the mid-1960s. Players will take control over one of three characters, each that seek to complete a personal task while escaping the fictional dystopian city of Wellington Wells. We’re looking forward to diving into its gameplay, with combines role-playing, survival, and roguelike elements.

We Happy Few will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on August 10.

Shenmue I & II

The search for sailors continues in the release of SEGA’s Shenmue I & II. Players take control of Ryo Hazuki as he sets out to avenge the death of his father, who died at the hands of a man seeking the mysterious Dragon Mirror. The game offers RPG elements, a complex fighting system, and a number of minigames. We’re looking forward to playing both of these titles at a higher resolution, and also getting a little bit of forklift and duck racing in while we’re at it.

Shenmue I & II will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on August 21.

Yakuza Kiwami 2

A remake of 2006’s Yakuza 2, SEGA’s Yakuza Kiwami 2 brings players back to Kamurocho. Once again, players take control of Kazuma Kiryu as he sets out to prevent an all-out war between the Tojo and the Omi. We’re looking forward to playing the new scenario “The Truth of Goro Majima,” and also experiencing the new quality of life improvements.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 will come out for the PlayStation 4 on August 28.
